Life is busy and crazy and wonderful and , oftentimes, pretty stressful. That makes it super easy for us to get caught up in our own agendas and forget to reach out to those around us. Unfortunately, if we stay shut inside our bubbles all the time, we’ll end up missing out on a lot of incredible opportunities–who wants that, right?
Soooo, today I want to challenge you to intentionally brighten someone’s day. It can be anyone, even the cashier at the grocery store. Or your mom. Or best friend. Just pick someone, and go out of your way to make them smile. Here’s a few tips to get ya started 🙂
1. Smile. Like, a real smile. Ya know, the one where you make eye contact and your entire face lights up. Turns out, people like people who like them and are happy to see them.
2. Ask them about their life and things that you know they’re passionate about–and then genuinely listen. Be fascinated by what they’re saying and make a point to ask them more about it. Feeling validated and like someone cares about what’s important to you is one of the BEST feelings ever.
3.Take a moment, just a moment, to be out-of-your-way encouraging. Tell them what you appreciate about them. Go beyond the usual “Nice hair!” compliment, and dig a little deeper. What is something you really like about this person? Think maybe you should find some way to tell them that? Yeah. You should.
Life is an incredible adventure and, like all good adventures, it can get a little hectic sometimes. So why not brighten today for yourself and someone else, by making their day on purpose?
